Bringing a horse back into work and feed

Release Date: 08-Jan-2018

Just like us, horses need a break and usually over the Christmas New Year period they get that. With family visits, new toys to play with and food to be consumed, horses may be given some time off over the break too.

Hyfeed has compiled an easy to follow list to ensure you are easing your horse back into work and feeding the correct feeds.

1st Step is to ensure the horse is in healthy condition. Check their feet, teeth and worming regime are all up to date. Before starting to get back into work these things will form the basis of a healthy horse.

2nd step is to have a goal for you and your horse. What are you planning to achieve with each ride and is there an end result you want to reach. This may be a competition or just a leisurely stroll without any issues. Whatever it may be, write this goal down and work towards it every ride.

3rd step is to ensure all you horses nutritional requirements are met to bring them back into work the best way possible. Hyfeed can help you with this step, with our great range of horse feed products.

4th step is to take it slow. Just like you, your horse may have eaten a bit too much over the holiday period so will need time to warm up, stretch those muscles and lose that buldge. Don’t rush back into strenuous work as this could be detrimental to your final goal.

And 5th and final step. Have fun with your horse. Don’t stress about what everyone else is achieving, only compete with yourself.
